Meet The Scene Ball at Heidelberg Town Hall 2013
Swing Dancing Event hosted by Swing Patrol
Rusty had his debut performance with Brat Pack which
led to many more performances all over Melbourne with
three different dance troupes including Harlem Shout
and The Maharajahs Balboa Troupe (Lexi (Rusty’s wife)
was also part of The Maharajahs)
If you’ve ever been out to see a vintage big band or even a small 4-5 piece jazz band swinging it up with music from the roaring 1920s through to the early 1950s you have probably seen dancers bringing the music to life on the dance floor giving a visual spectacle to complement the auditory experience you were having. This was most likely swing dancing and that’s what we are all about!
Rusty and his wife Lexi began teaching swing classes out of a little community hall in Forest Hill in Melbourne when their first swing teacher hung up his dance shoes. Many of the students who used to frequent those classes still come to dance at Mitcham today.
